As I read my devotional this morning, I kept asking myself - how do you lead people to take Jesus from their heads and 'to do' lists and soften their hearts so He can enter and grow? Doing for Christ is not being in Christ. Being in Christ leads to doing for Christ, but doing does not guarantee being. There are so many people out there doing and doing and doing, but they don't know they need to BE IN Christ to get to heaven. Doing won't get you there! You can KNOW all you want. You can DO all you want. You can SAY all you want. None of these three will help me see you in heaven! You have to ask Christ to enter your body and clean in up. You have to let go of your control issues and your pride and allow Christ to clean. Once Christ enters, you will have desire to DO, KNOW, and SAY, but it will be with such less effort that you DO KNOW and SAY that you will be amazed at how much simpler and easier it is!
If you are a doer, but not a be-er, then I urge you to give over your life right now. Get out of the driver's seat of the car of your life and let Jesus drive. At first you'll be a totally annoying backseat driver, but as you watch and learn, you will see that Jesus's way is the best way, even if you don't know where he is going at the time. Let him lead you. Let him guide you. Let him drive! I have yet to meet anyone who is sorry they ever did that. I only hear laments about not doing it sooner.
It won't be easy. It will be difficult and it will be scary. You will end up with different friends a lot of times. You will end up with a whole new life! But it's like a butterfly! The caterpillar has to give up his old self completely before he can become a new creature. You have to do the same. Just like the caterpillar, who turns almost completely to liquid inside the chrysalis, you have to give all of your being to Christ, who will mold you and change you into a beautiful creature unlike anything you could ever imagine!
Let me know how it works out for you!
